Challenges with masticating juicers
It is a known fact that fruit and food juices are good for the health. There are several types of juicers that are best for juicing different types of foods and fruits. The three basic kinds of juicers are:
- 1. Masticating Juicer
- 2. Centrifugal Juicer
- 3. Triturating Juicer.
Commonly, you will find the masticating or the centrifugal juicer being used in houses and other institutions, because the triturating juicer works out to be a bit costly when it comes to the home needs. Masticating as well as centrifugal juicers have their advantages and disadvantages, and pose challenges to the user. These are some of the challenges with masticating juicers that the user might face.
Cutting and Dicing the Fruits and Vegetables:
Since the chute through which the foods and vegetables are fed into the masticating juicer is very small, there is a possibility that one might have to cut and dice them before feeding them in. This might increase the time taken to prepare the juice, and also create a mess at the kitchen table. However, it should be considered that whether you are using a centrifugal or a masticating juicer, putting thinly cut and diced fruits give you a better quality of juice as compared to putting large gobs of the fruit into the juicer. Therefore, though you might have to clean up the mess and take a longer time to create the juice, you will get a better quality juice at the end of the day.
Masticating Juicers are not always Easy to Clean:
One of the most common sentences you will read in a Masticating Juicer catalog is that it is easy to clean. The simple reason behind this is that the make and design of the masticating juicer is such that it may be difficult to clean, if the design architect has not kept some designing basics in mind. Therefore, you might be spending more time cleaning and dissembling the juicer rather than using it to make the juice. However, this is true only in a badly designed masticating juicer. All of the high quality and well known masticating juicers are known for their design logic and can be easily cleaned and dissembled.
Slow Processing for Hard Fruits and Foods:
Masticating juicers work slower than the centrifugal juicers, and the speed goes lower when it is processing hard fruits and fruits. This might be a cause of concern if you are a regular user of juices and want a faster device to make your juice. However, you should remember that because of the lesser speed of the juicer, there is a lesser amount of heat generated, and this keeps the juice fresher and also shields the nutrients from just disappearing into the heat. Also, because of the speed being slow there is less foam generated – which basically translates into a higher nutrient value, more natural juice for any ingredient that you have put in.
These are just some of the challenge that you may face if you are using masticating juicers. However, keep in mind that these disadvantages are what make the masticating juicer a better juicer as compared to the centrifugal juicer.
