Omega 8006 is the latest masticating juicer from the Omega Nutrition Center line. It’s a mastication juicer in black and chrome with a 15-year warranty. One of the popular brands that have been around since the 1950s is Omega juicers and Omega J8006 Nutrition Center Commercial Masticating Juicer. Black and Chrome are one of their most popular juicers. I had my share of trouble as a kid eating my veggies and fruits. Meeting USDA’s food pyramid recommendation of at least 5-9 servings (2-2.5 cups) of vegetables and fruits per day is daunting.
I recently got to know about masticating juicers which can help with various kinds of veggie and fruit variations and have been focused on learning about them. The Omega juicer can virtually juice any fruit and vegetable that you put into it. Now let us look take a look at Omega 8006 available for purchase along with many great customer reviews. See below for details about the features and parts of this omega juicer.
My review of Omega J8006 Nutrition Center Commercial Masticating Juicer
Let us start with what to look for in a juicer and answer the same for Omega 8006
- How easy it is to operate and clean
- Quality of juice
- Yield of juice
- Is it durable
- What is the motor power and juicing concept?
Researching these parameters led me to write the review for one of the best products for masticating juicers; the omega 8006 commercial masticating juicers.
Commercial juicer for home use, overkill?
The thought that first strikes your mind if you are buying a juicer for juicing at home is why would I need a commercial juicer for juicing at home. Juicers with commercial motors are especially useful if you plan on doing lot of juicing or want to use it to juice for the family or have a garden and would like to try various kinds of dry and pulp juices. The commercial motors are heavy duty, hence durable. They are less susceptible to burn, capable of sustaining continuous feeds without jamming. The motor is quite powerful
Quality of juices and pulps with low speed motor
So what is different about masticating juicers? Why spend the dollars when I have a perfectly fine blender at home. The question is valid but the difference is the quality of juice. The low-speed motor in the Omega 8006 juicer which spin as low as 80 RPM (rotations per minute), reduce building up of heat. Heat usually oxidizes the juice (observed by foaming) and destroys the healthy nutrients in the juice. Thus the slow motor in the Omega juicer preserves the minerals, vitamins, and enzymes in the juices which tend to be destroyed at the high speeds of blenders and other centrifugal juicers. The low speed motor also allows you to juice wheatgrass and leafy greens. The side benefit of this is that it prevents clogging and one step easier to clean.
Lot and lots of juice
If you are wondering, I want a cup of juice, why do I need a high yield machine, read on. High yield is not just for juice shops. When you are looking to juice carrots, celery, beets, you have to continuously juice at least a pound to get a good amount of pulp and juice. The automatic ejection of pulp into a pulp container while juicing makes it easier to continue juicing and the large container for juices in the Omega 8006makes it easier to get a good amount of juice in one go. The single gear in the commercial omega juicer also makes it easier to get a high yield of juice.
Ease of use and easy to clean
Mostly cleaning is the part that gets to most of the homemakers. What I typically worry about before I get any appliance is how tough will it be for daily use? Will it be herculean to clean it in addition to cleaning up kid’s mess? The Omega 8006 juicer is a single gear masticating juicer, otherwise called the single auger juicer, where a profiled screw like molding is used to compact the produce against a static screen, that separates the juice and then pulp is ejected through another outlet automatically. The assembly and dis-assembly are also easy. To wash, just slide out the juicing screen, the auger and the funnel and a quick wash immediately after juicing helps best. The pulp and juice containers are plastic and if you use produce liners, the easier it is for cleaning. An added benefit is that these juicers are not as noisy as some of the centrifugal juicers.
Durability
The auger in the Omega 8006 is made of Chrome plated plastic. The auger is made of GE ULTEM which is 8 times harder than the melamine auger typically used in other juicers. The color of the auger is black and does not discolor as quickly as the other augers. The heavy duty construction of the juicers gives it the strength and durability for daily use at home or heavy duty commercial use.
Variety of use
Not only does the omega 8006 juicer yield a good quantity of healthy juice, it can also be used for a variety of purposes. Aside from typical fruits and vegetable juicing, we can use it to juice wheatgrass and leafy greens. It can be used as a pasta extruder or a grinder. Frozen desserts like banana sorbet are interesting recipes you can make using the Omega juicer. Some people say they’ve made homogenous icecream with bananas and almonds. “You can also use it to make fresh peanut butter. You can also use the pulp in soups, baking or even pancakes.
Warranty and Certifications
10-year warranty is offered for this product. An interesting statement that caught my eye in the spec, The Warranty – “the longest in the Industry – guarantees you’ve purchased the last juicer you will ever need to own”.
In addition to the warranty, the Omega J8006 juicer is also certified by the Underwriters Laboratories Inc. (UL) Household and Commercial Approval.
Any Complaints?
The review is complete if we do not consider the cons especially given that we are going to pay money for the juicer. Some have mentioned that chute size may be a tad smaller. Use a cutting board to slice the items up and given the price of the organic produce there will be less wastage as in the centrifugal juicers. One of the reviewers said they received the package with chipped off auger but many of them say not. Amazon shipping it separately should help and calls to Omega receive a good response. It is also said in a review that omega has corrected their defect.
How much should you expect to pay?
A good masticating juicer costs around $250-$500. The retail price of the omega 8006 is around $350-$390.
What is included?
- Omega juicing unit with drum

Drum. It comes with a durable drum in which the juicing takes place.
Nozzle set. Omega J6006 masticating juicer is available with six nozzles that are meant for various purposes.
Cleaning brush. The cleaning brush is very effective for cleaning the juicing screen.
Plunger. The plunger that is provided with juicer is required to insert pressure on produce in the chute while juicing.
Collection Bowls. The Collection bowls of Omega J8006 is larger than that of other juicers of this line.
Hopper. One of the omega juicer parts, the black-color hopper of the juicer is slick to look at.
Drum cap. The drum cap is required to close the drum while juicing.
Auger. The juicer has a Ultem auger, which is made of hard, industrial strength plastics that can squeeze the all the juice and leave the pulp absolutely dry. The other juicers of Omega line have a melamine-made auger, but the Ultem stone–mill shaped auger is 8 times stronger than the melamine version.
Besides these, you will get a blank insert, a sieve and a juicing screen.
Assembly and Cleaning
J8006 is very user-friendly in terms of assembly. First of all, fit the drum of the juicer with main body by moving the clip clockwise. Next, is inserting the auger and then the juicing screen in the drum. Now close the drum with drum cap. Put the funnel on the feeding chute. Take the juicing bowl and keep it under the outlet that will produce the juice. Now insert the produce in the omega juicer and turn it on. As you juice, push the produce with the plunger. You do not need to exert a lot of pressure on the feeding chute with the plunger to cause enough friction with the auger. The juicer will automatically start chewing up produce with no pressure from the plunger at all.
What sets this juicer apart from other juicers is it is an easy to clean juicer. Cleaning does not take more than a minute or two. Dissemble juicer in the same way as you assembled it. Cleaning the juicer includes rinsing the auger, feed chute funnel, auger cap, juice collector, funnel top, pulp collector, and screen. The Omega 8006 Nutrition Center Juicer comes with a handy brush for cleaning the screen. Remember, cleaning the screen is the most time-consuming part of washing a juicer. Clean the parts with water and mild detergent.
